Let me echo Torch Mullins. Steel Mart and Metals Supermarket are both near each other just north of I285 in the vicinity of the Buford highway. I can get to both of them in the same trip.

Both will cut what you want or need to be able to haul in a pickup bed. I just found out that Steel Mart has sheet metal drops, but it is what they have at the time you visit. When I went there hoping for 18 Ga. they did not have it, but there was plenty of other stuff thicker on the floor. I think that when I am in the vicinity it might behove me to drive in and look.

Metals Supermarket has a wide variety of shapes and sizes and will cut to order. They have a "Drops" room and it has alloy and tool steel in a huge number of sizes and alloys. If I were into making hammers it would be a gold mine of inexpensive materials. NOT ONLY ALLOY STEELS BUT MILD STEEL AS WELL AND YOU MIGHT FIND A SCOURCE OF A SMALL AMOUNT OF A SIZE YOU NEED AN NOT HAVE TO BUY 20 FEET. When I did not find the 18 Ga drops at Steel Mart I drove to Metals Supermarket and they cut what I needed.

NOW DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A SCRAP METAL YARD ON THE NORTH SIDE OF ATLANTA WHERE THEY WILL ALLOW YOU TO ROOT AND AND BUY STUFF BY THE POUND ?
