I was really conflicted about missing the meeting at the High since I was attending ABANA and didn't want to miss that but I also was very upset to miss the High meeting. What did Mike forge for his demo? Did anyone take pictures to post? I'd love to see them.

ABANA was a lot of fun, and very well organized except for a lot of glitches at the auction. The weather was perfect and the venue was very nice. I got a new digital camera and as soon as I can figure out how to edit my pictures, I'll attempt to post them.

Congratulations are in order for Eddie Rainey--he is now on the ABANA board. It's an example of "be careful what you wish for." Prior to the membership meeting, I asked Eddie and Al McClure about the election and who to vote for since I didn't know who was running. We didn't come up with anyone, but we all talked about what ABANA should be doing. I asked Eddie if he would serve and told him I'd write in his name on the ballot. He said he would. When the membership meeting took place, there were three slots open, and the president asked for nominees. One name was proposed and seconded. He asked for others--deep silence. Finally, I stood up and nominated Eddie and Al seconded it. Eddie was not there at the time as he was having dinner with his wife. Since there were only two candidates and three slots, Eddie was elected by acclamation. When Al called to tell him, he didn't believe it and thought we were joking. He didn't believe it until the next day.

I think Eddie will be a good addition to the board, and I think we should all pitch in and help with suggestions and ask him if there are any tasks we can help with. Also--wouldn't it be great to have an ABANA conference in Georgia? We now have someone at ABANA that could introduce the idea.

I also want to mention that Deitrich had a beautiful wine rack in the gallery. I thought it was one of the nicest pieces on display. I'll post a picture when I figure out how to edit and post.
