I don't know who else received the announcement from Chris Brooks, the Director of the Sautee Nacoochee Folk Pottery Museum. They now have a working blacksmith shop as part of their Heritage Site. Sunday, May 24 will be the official dedication and Tim Ryan will hold a benefit auction for shop supplies. No time was given. Everyone is invited to attend and also to donate - forge items or money. Mr. Brooks proposes monthly demonstrations; he also suggests to start a blacksmith guild and is looking for a name for it and for officer volunteers. email or phone 706-878-3300

I looked on their site fro the dedication hoping to get some more information as to times and to clear up the date. May 24th is Saturday not Sunday.

Dietrich, will you keep us updated if you hear any more info on them starting a blacksmith guild?
Added 27 days later: I remember this guild brought up at this past Saturday's meeting. Was there a meeting time announced? I'd be interested in checking it out. This post was edited by ThomasABoucher (2014-06-23 22:27, ago) |
