Thin-wall metal electrical conduit pipe has an electrically applied galvanized coating. Electric welding on this(MIG or Stick) produces zinc fumes that are not good.

Is there an easy way to clean this off the welded areas? I have heard that a wire brush wheel will do it, but it sounds too easy. Does anyone know for sure?
