I guess I missed the part about ABBA doing a bulk buy the first time I read it. I may be interested in that if there turns out to be a money savings.

I've switched to coke. Hard to light, goes out if you turn off the air for too long. BUT it's smokeless and lasts longer than coal. The main reason I started using coke is because I live in a subdivision. I got to where I really like it.

I get mine from L-Brand coke . They ship from Cumming, I believe.

But you have a good idea, maybe the guild should look into that.

On average, about how long does a 50# bag last you? Roughly how many hours at the forge?

Last time I got coal from Sidney Lee it was $17/50# It is pretty good coal with very few clinkers.

Buster Grubbs in Macon gets TT truck load(22 T ) and sells cheap. Sidney Lee Welding(Hampton) stocks good B/S coal by the bag.

Does ABBA ever do bulk buys of coal for members? I've been buying mine from Georgia Farrier supply up in Jasper. I don't remember the exact price, but "bagging" it myself in my 55 gallon drum was about $145.

However, I keep hearing about people buying coal by the ton for prices in the few hundred dollar range. I just bought a 55 gal drum full, so I'm set for awhile, but if anyone knows how to get it delivered in bulk to say Marietta, or if the group does large buys, I'm all ears.
